The Matrix was a transgender allegory, confirms director Lilly Wachowski – PerthNow
After years of speculation, a Matrix director has finally confirmed the series was an allegory for trans identity.
The director of The Matrix trilogy has finally confirmed fan theories the films were always meant to be a trans story.
Lilly Wachowski who wrote and directed all three hugely successful films, alongside her sister Lana, are set to direct the fourth instalment of the franchise which is currently filming in Europe and slated for release in April 2022.
The first instalment of the franchise was released in 1999, however the pair didnt come out as transgender women until 2016.
