The Hawks need a rebuild – and Jordan Lewis doubts Clarko is the man to lead it – Fox Sports
Four-time premiership Hawk Jordan Lewis has questioned whether Alastair Clarkson is the right man to lead the club through the “three-to-five year process” of rebuilding, suggesting assistant coach Sam Mitchell could be better equipped for the role.

Hawthorn sit 13th on the ladder and were heavily criticised for their lacklustre performance against Collingwood on Friday, which left many questioning where they sit as a club.
Lewis, who played 264 games for the club before effectively being pushed out the door by Clarkson, said the master-coachs credentials are undisputed, but his desire should be under question.

No doubt hes the best coach in the league, but whether you want to go back down that rebuilding phase, its not quick, its a three to five year process, he said on SEN Breakfast.
So whether he has that type of energy in him or whether its a Sam Mitchell that is just sitting in waiting and has that energy and the smarts and the football IQ to take over the reigns and take the club forward through that transition period.
As we saw on the weekend, their backline is an issue, apart from Sicily they’ve got no creative players and Hawthorn for a long period of time relied on having that advantage down in their back six to transition the ball and they just dont have those players now.
When pressed on whether he was saying Mitchell should take the reigns from Clarkson, Lewis said some hard questions had to be asked at the club.

I think you’ve got to look at your list demographic… you cant keep rolling out the same players, he said.
The hardest thing is to accept OK we may not be successful over the next two to three years but we need to go down the path rebuilding and bringing in youth. Thats a decision I think Alastair Clarkson and the Hawthorn Football Club need to make.
The worst position to be in is to be from 10th to 6th, youre not rally challenging but youre not really getting really high talented draft picks in. Im sure theyre aware of where theyre at and where their list demographic is at and the chart they need to follow.
A rebuild is highly sapping for a coach thats been around for so long.
