Australian TV productions will be getting a boost in next week’s federal budget, and while $50 million in new funding sounds like good news for the struggling arts sector, it’s not quite as clear cut as that.
Along with the new funding, changes to content quotas will remove requirements for the production of children’s TV shows.
As for streaming services like Netflix, they’re still exempt from requirements to fund or offer Australian productions.
