There’s a family superstition at play in Sydney as Jordan Thompson prepares for the biggest match of his career.

That’s because Stephen thinks the further away he is, the better his son plays.
“It would be nice to be there, yeah. But that’s probably why he’s doing better. The further away he is from me, the better he does,” he told the Herald. “He seems to play better when I’m not there. He plays better if I just stay away and text him.
