The 569 trees in the way of plans to revitalise Royal Sydney Golf Club – Sydney Morning Herald
The world’s golfing elite are fighting Rose Bay locals over plans by Royal Sydney Golf Club to chop 569 trees, mostly healthy, to restore the club to its glory days.

Of the 569 trees slated for the axe to widen fairways by 64 per cent and improve bunkers, three needed to be removed because they were in poor health or a risk to golfers or the public, according to Dr Sebastian Pfautsch and researchers at the Urban Studies School of Social Sciences at Western Sydney University. He said 69 per cent of existing trees were in good health and 58 per cent were healthy mature trees, according to a review of an arboricultural report commissioned by the club.
