‘That’s his comment’: Alastair Clarkson trades barbs with Brett Ratten over tactic that won’t work in ‘big games’ – Fox Sports
St Kilda coach Brett Ratten has hit back at Hawthorn counterpart and his former boss Alastair Clarkson after he accused the Saints of playing “keepings off” and using tactics that won’t work against better teams.
After a nine-goal first quarter on Sunday afternoon, the game slowed down dramatically, with just four majors kicked over the next two terms. Eventually St Kilda ran out 14-point winners.
However in his post-match press conference, Clarkson questioned whether the Saints tactic of slowing the game down in order to take control of his Hawks side would work in big games.
