Teenager stomped on outside Caroline Springs library in attack filmed and shared online

A teenager is in hospital after he was repeatedly stomped on and struck with a metal bar in an apparently random street attack in Melbourne’s west.
Key points:
- The victim’s father said his son was walking on his own when he was attacked by a group
- The boy remains in hospital with head injuries
- Police have interviewed a 16-year-old boy over the attack
The boy’s father says his son was attacked by a group of people he did not know while he was walking alone in Caroline Springs on Sunday afternoon.
The attack, near the local library, was filmed and shared on social media.
“They took his hat and phone and videoed it,” the boy’s father wrote on Facebook.
“He was walking on his own. They posted the vid on social media, the filthy animals.”
