Teenager dies after box jellyfish sting at Queensland beach
A teenager has died after he was stung by a box jellyfish while swimming at a beach in far north Queensland.
Police on Thursday confirmed a 17-year-old boy from Bamaga, a town 40 kilometres south of Cape York, died on March 1 in Townsville Hospital.
A Townsville Hospital spokeswoman said he had arrived at the hospital on February 23 in a critical condition.
The boy was flown from Bamaga about 8.30pm, a Royal Flying Doctor Service spokesman said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
