Tasmania Police investigate woman’s suspicious death in Launceston
Police are treating the death of a woman in a townhouse in central Launceston in northern Tasmania as suspicious.
Police have had the building in Wellington Street cordoned off all morning.
They first arrived at the townhouse, which is next to a gym and not far from the Launceston General Hospital, around 9:00pm Saturday.
Police said a witness, who called in the death, had attempted CPR on a 49-year-old woman but the attempts, and those of officers, were unsuccessful and the woman died at the scene.
Police initially said it was sudden death, but after a night and morning of investigations, they are now calling it suspicious.
