Tasmania Police arrest Rosebery man after alleged attempted child abduction at north-west campground
Tasmania Police have arrested a man after an alleged attempted child abduction in the state’s north-west after he abandoned his vehicle earlier this afternoon.
Police located 41-year-old Cecil Maurice Mabb in relation to the alleged assault and abduction of a child at the Montagu Campground, near Smithton, last night.
He was taken into custody at 4:15pm by police after they searched the Marrawah area on foot, locating the man around 5 kilometres north of the Arthur River.
He will be taken to the Burnie Police Station to be interviewed.
Earlier this afternoon, police said the Rosebery man was in the Marrawah area and had abandoned his white 2008 Mazda flat-tray ute, which has Queensland registration 317XNR, and may attempt to hitchhike…
