Tasmania declares Greater Brisbane ‘high risk’ because of UK coronavirus strain
Tasmania has effectively banned travellers from Greater Brisbane after the Queensland Government ordered a three-day lockdown of that area.

- The Greater Brisbane area is heading into a short lockdown to stop the spread of a new strain of COVID-19
- Anyone arriving in Tasmania from today who has been in greater Brisbane since January 2 must quarantine
- People already in Tasmania from Queensland need to check the risk locations and self-isolate if needed
The Queensland local government areas of Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Redlands, Ipswich and Logan have been declared high-risk by Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein, joining Sydney’s northern beaches and 17 Victorian sites as no-go zones for the coronavirus-free state.
