Sydney’s northern beaches coronavirus cluster grows to 90 after eight new positive infections recorded
Eight new coronavirus cases have been diagnosed in NSW in the 24 hours to 8:00pm Monday, as the state set another daily testing record.
Seven of the new cases are linked to the northern beaches cluster, bringing the total number in the cluster to 90.
The other case was a nurse who was involved in transporting people in hotel quarantine.
“The case that is under investigation is a healthcare worker from Western Sydney,” NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant said.
“This case has transported several patients but we have identified that they also have transferred positive COVID cases.”
Dr Chant said urgent genomic sequencing was underway to confirm if it was an overseas strain and those results would be made available later today.
