Sydney news: Search for baby reported floating in water at La Perouse resumes
Here’s what you need to know this morning.
Reports of baby floating in water
A large-scale search for a baby that was reported to be floating in water in Sydney’s south-east will continue today.
About 5:00pm yesterday emergency services were called to Yarra Bay, La Perouse after receiving a report that a baby was apparently deceased in the water.
Several witnesses told police they had seen an object that they believed was to be a baby wrapped in a plastic bag floating in the shallow water.
A multi-agency search of the area was initiated but due to poor visibility, and no further sightings of the object, the search was suspended for the night and will recommence at 7:00am today.
