The 50 fully electric buses will be rolled out across Sydney through 2021. The inner west region will get 30.
Mr Constance said the government had an aspirational target of replacing the citys fleet of 8000 buses by 2030. The first of this order is expected to be on the road in the first quarter of 2021.
The buses have the capacity to run for 15 hours off a single charge, according to Mr Constance, who said the government was considering installing solar panels at bus depots in coming years.
