Swimmer drowns on Gold Coast, third death in treacherous surf in 36 hours
A swimmer has drowned this morning at Mermaid Beach after getting into trouble in rough surf, the third drowning death on the Gold Coast since Thursday.
Paramedics tried to revive the person who was found at Mermaid Beach just before 8:00am, but they could not be saved.
It is the third drowning on the Gold Coast in 36 hours.
