SWERY, the creator of Deadly Premonition 2 has apologised for the problematic Transgender scenes in Deadly Premonition 2 and will aim to rewrite them.
There’s several problems with Deadly Premonitions 2’s transgender storyline. The transgender character is referred to as their deadname (birth name and pronouns) which happens several times throughout the story.
SWERY said the below in a statement posted on Twitter:
Dear DP fans,
I would like to tell important message.
I realized by pointed out from friends, I might have hurt transgender people in my scenario. It wasn’t intentional. I am really sorry for that.
Some scenes will be sanity checked by a team that included diversity and I will rewrite that scene ASAP.
So please continue to support Deadly Premonition.
I’m the one writing the scneario. So the characters are not responsible. My fault.
Please don’t hate them
