Peter Mel was barely out of the barrel before his fellow surfers were bellowing wave of the decade at famous Californian break Mavericks on Friday.
Mel took off and launched himself into an incredible tube on the nearly 10-metre wave – and then raised his arms in disbelief riding out with the spit.
This paddle-in wave with a chip-shot takeoff followed by a straight line through the bowl is next level big-wave surfing, Surfline reported.
