Super Rugby AU features big improvement in goalkicking as part of an upwards trend
Only a few seasons ago, the state of goalkicking in Australian rugby made for sobering reading.
While the very best of the best around the world were regularly pushing well into the 80 per cent range and better, most Australian kickers were languishing in the low to mid-70s.
From a consistency point of view, the best Australian kicker in Super Rugby for several seasons leading into the 2019 Rugby World Cup was former Wallabies and then Waratahs fly half Bernard Foley, who did operate around 80 per cent accuracy.
Where this became a source of frustration for Australian rugby fans, however, was that this strong Super Rugby form didn’t always follow on to the international season each year.
