Star Wars art unveils original Luke Skywalker look in The Force Awakens – Digital Spy

Luke Skywalker concept art for Star Wars: The Force Awakenshas been revealed on social media.
Uploaded to Instagram this week, Lucasfilm’s art director Christian Alzmann unveiled a cloudy-eyed, samurai-influenced version of the Jedi master – complete with top knot and full beard.

“This was January of 2013,” he captioned it. “Luke was being described as a Col. Kurtz type hiding from the world in a cave. In the Art of Star Wars The Force Awakens by @philszostaksf. #conceptart #digitalart #lukeskywalker #jedi.”
For those who haven’t seen the classic Vietnam war film Apocalypse Now, Marlon Brando’s character Colonel Walter E Kurtz was a decorated Special Forces officer gone rogue.
The idea of Luke becoming this type of crazed outsider is a fascinating one, but one we’ll never get to see on the big screen.
