International athletes have jumped at the chance to play in Australia during the pandemic, but their relative freedom comes with some emotional costs.
Sport competitions ground to a halt around the world in March 2020.
Around a year later, some are yet to get back underway, while others progress with no crowds and no atmosphere.

AFL confirmed crowd capacity is back to 75 per cent in Victoria, while codes in Queensland have enjoyed unrestricted crowd capacity for months.
Gone are bubbles and hubs. Players across all codes can interact with friends and go to restaurants and live a relatively normal life.
