The intense downpour predicted for south-east Queensland on Monday failed to materialise, but showers were expected to hang around into Wednesday before moving offshore, according to the weather bureau.

Despite copping the heaviest rain in the south-east corner, the Sunshine Coast still only recorded less than 50 millimetres between 9am and 6pm. And across Brisbane, rainfall totals stayed below 30 millimetres for the day.
