South Australian Ombudsman investigation highlights Burnside Council’s corporate credit card abuse

A South Australian ombudsman investigation has highlighted the extent of Burnside Council’s loose use of its credit cards between 2015 and 2017.

Ombudsman Wayne Lines found the council was guilty of maladministration because it allowed about $34,000 of ratepayers’ funds to be spent on alcohol, coffee, meals and travel without proper scrutiny and authorisation.
