Jack de Belin’s lawyer says his client’s case has highlighted the shortcomings of the NRL’s controversial no-fault stand-down rule, declaring: “Somebody could be held out for five years”.
De Belin and his co-accused, Shellharbour Sharks player Callan Sinclair, are facing a retrial of their rape case in the Downing Centre on April 12. Having already sat out two years while awaiting a verdict, the St George Illawarra star’s playing future will remain in limbo for a third season.
