As Jack de Belin faces being sidelined for a third season while awaiting a verdict, his lawyer has taken aim at the NRL rule that has left him in limbo.
Jack de Belin’s lawyer says his client’s case has highlighted the shortcomings of the NRL’s controversial no-fault stand-down rule, declaring: “Somebody could be held out for five years”.
De Belin and his co-accused, Shellharbour Sharks player Callan Sinclair, are facing a retrial of their rape case in the Downing Centre on April 12. Having already sat out two years while awaiting a verdict, the St George Illawarra star’s playing future will remain in limbo for a third season.
