The longest period of inactivity in almost half a century for the Australian national team is set to stretch out a few months longer.
FIFAs current rules dictate that clubs dont have to release players for international duty if they have to travel to a country imposing mandatory quarantine or self-isolation for at least five days upon arrival or their return.
With FIFA having expanded the June window to allow for international matches from 31 May to 15 June, we will need to utilise that period to complete our remaining Group B fixtures prior to the June 15 deadline, Football Australia chief executive James Johnson said in a statement.
