Smoke blanketing Perth from prescribed burns set to clear throughout day, but more to come

Prescribed burns and smaller private property burns have left large parts of the Perth metropolitan area blanketed in thick smoke.
Key points:
- A smoke alert is current for Perth and areas from Mandurah to Yanchep
- Authorities say the smoke should clear in the coming hours
- More prescribed burns are likely in coming days due to cooler weather
The Parks and Wildlife Service has issued a smoke alert for Perth and surrounds from Mandurah to Yanchep, including the Perth Hills.
A combination of prescribed burns along the Swan Coastal Plain and Perth Hills plus smaller private property burns have caused the smoke haze.
Stephan Dehan from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions said the smoke should clear across the day.
