Shawn Mendes has had to apologise after addressing Sam Smith with the wrong pronouns at the 2020 iHeartRadio Jingle Ball on Thursday.
Mendes repeatedly misgendered Smith while on stage at the Jingle Bell ball, calling them “he” and “him”.
On his Instagram story the following day, Mendes wrote: “Oh @samsmith I’m so sorry for referring to you as a ‘he’ for your Jingle Ball introduction. It absolutely slipped my mind. Wont happen again…Sending you so much love!”
