Queensland star’s spring over after suffering a fracture in the Group 1 Golden Rose
Star Queensland three-year-old Rothfire is set for an extended time out with injury after fracturing a sesamoid bone in Saturday’s Golden Rose.
The injury ends his chances of running in this year’s Everest, with trainer Rob Heathcote expecting the stable star could miss 12 months with the injury.
Rothfire, who started a short-priced favourite in the Golden Rose, pulled up 3/5 lame with jockey Jim Byrne dismounting quickly from his mount after the race.
