SEQ severe storms inbound with large hail, damaging winds, heavy rain

“We expect these storms to develop across the eastern Darling Downs and western south-east coast.

“There could be damaging winds – averaging 60-70km/h with gusts in excess of 90km/h – and large hailstones in the Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions.
“In the area east of Toowoomba and west of Ipswich, we’re forecasting 40-45 millimetres of rain, too.
“Then the main risk for the south-east coastline this evening should be heavy rainfall, with 5-20 millimetres expected.
“The rain in general will be quite isolated across a number of spots. There could be heavier bursts of rain that could lead to localised flash flooding…
