Second Tasmanian public servant stood down pending sex abuse investigation

Another public servant from northern Tasmania has been stood down while an historical sexual abuse allegation is investigated.
The State Government issued a statement late on Thursday afternoon saying the abuse was alleged to have happened more than a decade ago and was identified through the National Redress Scheme.
The scheme was set up in response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
No further details about the allegation have been released. It has been referred to Tasmania Police for investigation.
The statement from the Government said principles of natural justice and other legal considerations “demanded that further comment is not made whilst the investigation is underway”.
