Scientists believe they know exactly when, where and how the new strain of coronavirus began.
According to scientists, the first sample of the new coronavirus strain was discovered in a person who lived near Canterbury in Kent in September.
The new variant is highly contagious and spreads faster than the previous strain of Covid-19, but it is not thought to be more deadly or to make people more unwell.
