A blood test to accurately diagnose Alzheimer’s disease – a debilitating, degenerative brain disease – could be just a few years away, according to a study published July 28 in JAMA.
- New research could make it possible to identify Alzheimer’s disease using a blood test within the next few years.
- A study found that by measuring a form of protein, the test could accurately differentiate which patients had Alzheimer’s from patients with other types of dementia.
- The test may also help experts identify developing cases of Alzheimer’s before symptoms appear.
