Sonny Bill Williams made a winning return to the NRL but James Tedesco was the two-try hero in the Roosters’ 18-6 defeat of the Raiders.
But this night was only ever going to be about the man wearing the Roosters’ No. 17 jersey.
It had been 2171 days since Williams played his last game in the NRL. Let’s just say it’s safe to say he can still generate some insane interest.
His highly anticipated return lasted 13 minutes, featured four runs for 23m and five tackles as a middle forward. There was a brief moment he even looked like he could have scored had Freddy Lussick thrown him the ball close to the line.
