ASX-listed Bega Cheese has its nose in front in the auction for Lion’s up-for-sale dairy and drinks division, after Canadian dairy company Saputo was knocked out of the race on Friday, sources said.

Saputo’s exit just left Bega and John Wylie’s alternative asset manager Tanarra Capital to duke it out, but sources said Bega was the favourite between the pair to enter exclusivity.
