Samsung has announced new 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs with write speeds of up to 5,000MB/s and read speed of up to 7,000MB/s.

Samsung has announced new 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs with write speeds of up to 5,000MB/s and read speed of up to 7,000MB/s.
This is a major bump in performance over the companies existing range of 970 series NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSDs. In fact, it is double the speed of the Samsung 970 PRO NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSDs.
Despite the 980 PRO PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD having 2x the data transfer rate of PCIe 3.0, it still maintains backward compatibility with PCIe 3.0.
