Three-year-old filly with sprinting pedigree firms to win over 1000 metres on debut

A first starter trained by a leading Melbourne leading stable has firmed noticeably into favoritism ahead of Thursday’s meeting at Sale.
The Mathew Ellerton and Simon Zahra-trained three-year-old filly Phondle opened at $18 with Sportsbet on Tuesday afternoon to win the $35,000 Ladbroke It! Maiden Plate (1000m), the first of eight races from the Gippsland track at 1pm.
Just over 24 hours out from the race though, Phondle’s odds have been slashed to $3.60, tumbling from equal-eighth pick in market…
