HBO has cancelled its dark comedy/thriller series “Run,” starring Merritt Wever and Domhnall Gleeson, after a one-season run which wrapped its seven episode order on May 24th.
Merrit Wever and Domhnall Gleeson play childhood friends Ruby and Billy who fulfil a youthful pact to reunite should either receive a text from the other to “run”. The series hailed from Vicky Jones and Phoebe Waller-Bridge and though critics liked it, audience reviews and ratings were soft.
The news was much better for Fox’s Denis Leary and Elizabeth Perkins-led “The Moodys”. The network has renewed its comedy for a second season. The first followed a dysfunctional Chicago family at Christmas with six episodes airing over three nights.
The second season will not be centered around the holidays and will instead continue to follow the Moody family through their everyday lives. Francois Arnaud, Chelsea Frei and Jay Baruchel co-star in the series and an episode count for season two has yet to be determined.
