Roads flooded, widespread 50mm rainfall as south-east Queensland soaked

On the Sunshine Coast, Pelican Waters received 55 millimetres in 3½ hours and Maroochydore had 54 millimetres in fewer than four hours.

The Gold Coast suburb of Pacific Pines recorded 36 millimetres in four hours and the Scenic Rim town of Beechmont had 28 millimetres in four hours.
The weather bureau issued a severe thunderstorm warning on Tuesday morning for a cell extending from Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, down to Brisbane’s southern suburbs. The warning area covered areas of the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane, with the potential for heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding. This was later cancelled.
4BC traffic reporter Olympia Kwitowski said the flooding on the roads peaked on Tuesday morning.
