Road rage: Flood damage closes Cape York’s sealed highway, and MP Warren Entsch is fuming

A Federal MP has accused the Queensland Government of squandering millions of taxpayer dollars after sections of road in Far North Queensland’s Cape York washed away in flooding.
Key points:
The Peninsula Developmental Road between Laura and Musgrave was sealed in 2015 but photographs show portions of the main road transport route on the cape have crumbled after recent rain.
Far North Queensland Federal MP Warren Entsch said millions went into sealing the road, which has now been closed for repairs.
He said the road should have been built to withstand the heavy rains of the wet season.
“It makes me sick in the guts. It’s an absolute disgrace,” Mr Entsch said.
“This is a huge waste of taxpayer’s money.
