Rising cycling star Luke Azzopardi fatally hit by car while training on road near Cairns

Australia’s cycling community is in mourning after a former Queensland junior champion was fatally struck by a car.
Luke Azzopardi, 19, was killed on Wednesday evening while on a training ride near Cairns.
Azzopardi, from Gordonvale, was on Lake Morris Road about 6.10pm when he was hit by a car travelling in the opposite direction.
He died at the scene, while the driver of the car, a 19-year-old woman, escaped injury.
