Rio Tinto hired a high powered law firm to fight potential legal challenges from the Puutu Kunti Kurrama and Pinikura to stop the Juukan Gorge blast earlier this year.

When Mr Salisbury joined the call, he queried mitigation measures to protect nearby potential heritage sites and requested there be a review of the companys systems to identify additional concerns.
The conversation then turned to whether the company was legally vulnerable.
Rio Tintos legal counsel Nic Tole said the Aboriginal Heritage Act section 18 approval covered the blast and the company had hired commercial law firm Ashursts to prepare for any potential injunction from the PKKP.
