Review into child abuse reporting failures may not be made public, minister says

The South Australian Government has appointed former District Court judge Paul Rice to lead a review into the reporting practices of the state’s child protection department — but has stopped short of guaranteeing the findings will be made public.

Child Protection Minister Rachel Sanderson last week revealed she did not know about the sexual abuse of a young girl in state care until after media enquiries were made.

Ms Sanderson said she was “very disappointed” she was not informed of the case, or a similar one in September.
