Redclaw crayfish farmers welcome new industry players as demand continues to outstrip supply
Redclaw crayfish farming remains a cottage industry in Queensland with an estimated 30 growers, but numbers are steadily increasing as demand for the tasty yabby continues to outstrip supply, according to the Queensland Crayfish Farmers Association (QCFA).

- Peter van Velzen is readying 12 ponds, the equivalent of 30 Olympic-sized swimming pools
President Andrew Gosbell has been in the industry for 23 years and operates a crayfish farm at Wolvi near Gympie.
He said redclaws were ideal for aquaculture.
