Record-seeking Smith has mental edge on India, says Finch – Sydney Morning Herald
Steve Smith would become the first Australian man to score hundreds in three consecutive one-day internationals if he hits another ton on Wednesday.
When Smith scores big early in a season, it often spells trouble for opposition bowlers. His last two Ashes masterpieces were launched by first-up tons, while India felt his wrath in 2014-15 and 2017 after he set the agenda in the first Test of each of those series.
“That will be in the back of everyone’s minds who are playing (those) Tests,” Finch said of the edge Australia’s batsmen had established over India’s attack with their torrent of runs in Sydney.
