Record-high cattle prices see Kimberley Meat Company abattoir close its doors for 2021

A Western Australian pastoral group say it is “disappointed” but “not surprised” by the temporary closure of the only abattoir in the north of the state, as record-high cattle prices continue to put pressure on processors across the country.

The comments yesterday come after Yeeda Pastoral Company, which owns the Kimberley Meat Company (KMC) processing plant, announced it would not be re-opening in 2021 following the annual wet season shutdown.
