Major miners led the gains as they extended their rebound following a heavy sell-off in last weeks trade. BHP Group rose 2.2 per cent to $45.10, Rio Tinto firmed 3.4 per cent to $115.03, Fortescue Metals Group advanced 2 per cent to $22.71, South32 climbed 5.7 per cent to $2.79 and Mineral Resources added 5.8 per cent to close at $36.60.
Deterra Royalties also advanced, increasing 1.2 per cent to $4.39.
