Rare encounter sees stunning sight of a hundred cownose rays captured in Great Barrier Reef

A rare sighting of a large school of cownose stingrays has been captured in the Great Barrier Reef.
Reef Guide Jacinta Shackleton was snorkelling off Lady Elliot Island earlier this month when she spotted the school of rays.
The rays are rarely seen in the waters off that part of the Great Barrier Reef.
Shackleton said the encounter took her breath away.
“It looked like they were dancing in sync across the reef,” she said.
