Ralph measures rain by the metre on NSW coast as BoM Climate Summary tells tale of vastly different years
Ralph Clissold is used to rain. Since December 10 there’s been only one day without it on his Mount Seaview property west of Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid North Coast.

- Mount Seaview, west of Port Macquarie, was the wettest place in NSW in 2020, with 3,370.8mm of rain
- It’s been a mixed bag for farmer and tourism operator Ralph Clissold, who collects the weather readings for the Bureau of Meteorology
- The Bureau said rainfall over NSW was 14 per cent above average for 2020
And in the Bureau of Meteorology’s [BoM] Climate Summary released yesterday, the area was deemed the wettest in New South Wales for 2020 — a title it’s also taken six of the previous 10 years.
