Rainfall prompts emergency alert in Scenic Rim

About midday on Tuesday, Gold Coast mayor Tom Tate said three large evacuation centres across the city were set up and could be activated in 30 minutes if needed.
Cr Tate said another 100 millimetres of rain was expected over the next 12 to 18 hours.
“It’s not over yet, there is potential for flash flooding throughout our city,” he said.
“I think there’s about 47 road closures at the moment. Hinze Dam is spilling at the moment, it will peak later this afternoon.”
