Coronavirus cases are continuing to decline across the UK with the official government estimate of the R number definitively below one for the first time since July.
According to the Office for National Statistics infection survey there were an estimated 695,400 people in England that had Covid-19 in the week ending February 6, down 18 per cent from the week before.
It is the first time the figure has been below 700,000 since the week ending December 18.
