Queensland’s coronavirus border restrictions ease for people from regional NSW — Sydney and Victoria remain hotspots

Queensland’s border has relaxed again, allowing visitors from regional New South Wales to come over, but more than 5 million people who live in Greater Sydney, as well as residents of Victoria, are still locked out of the Sunshine State.

Thirty-two local government areas in Sydney will continue to be treated as COVID-19 hotspots.

On Monday, NSW recorded only one new locally acquired case, connected to a known cluster in south-west Sydney.

At the weekend, Australia recorded its first day with no locally acquired cases since June.

Police are warning people planning to drive across the border today to be prepared for delays.(AAP: Dave Hunt)
